ST. LOUIS

St. Louis Union Station Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton

I’ll tell you what…STL doesn’t usually go as expected for me and this trip was no exception. Luckily, out of everything that didn’t go as planned, the hotel was actually better than expected! It was absolutely beautiful and so unique. We had a little bit of trouble finding the right parking area when we first got there, but I’ll go over all that and more here!

THE ROOM

We stayed in the King Clock Tower Studio for a total of $266.91. We only went for one night but as soon as we walked into our room we jokingly said, “Should we book another night?”. We didn’t, but I would’ve been 100% ok with doing so.

The pictures online made the room look dreamy and what made me choose this specific room was the light fixture (yeah I know, silly) and extra space with the couch. Sometimes I overpack (even for a one-night trip) and it’s nice to have extra space where both David and I can spread out our things without feeling overcrowded.

The little staircase was a surprise since that wasn’t shown in the pictures but I loved the extra detail. The ceiling was about 12 feet high and the whole time I was in that room I kept telling David we needed to have our future house resemble some of the features of this room.

In the bathroom, everything was as you’d expect. Clean towels, clean floors and surfaces, and some extra products in case you forgot anything at home. However, my favorite part was the mirror. Not only did it have a switch to turn on a brighter light behind it, but there was also a little mirror attached to the wall that you could pull to whatever angle you wanted. The extra light around the mirrors made a huge difference when doing my makeup. Especially since at home, I have a similar setup with my vanity so it was lighting I was already familiar with.

THE FOOD

We didn’t try either of the restaurants they had, but David did grab a few snacks at the shop. It was a little pricey in my opinion, but that’s usually how it goes at hotels and/or airports.

THE AMENITIES

Since we were there for such a short time we didn’t get to try everything out, but they had a fitness room and an outdoor pool. With it being April in the midwest, the pool wasn’t something we were trying to do nor do I think it was open.

THE PARKING

When we first got there, we went into the aquarium parking lot but didn’t think we were in the right place. A lot of families were going in and out and no one looked like they were staying in the hotel portion. We were about to get out and look for the hotel entrance but I didn’t feel right having people see us haul our bags out of our car and know that we weren’t going to be back anytime soon (I’m a little paranoid).

So I called the front desk and was told we could park there but it’d be a long walk to the front desk. The normal parking lot where guests usually go is behind a green building, on the side of the hotel. We went there instead and didn’t have to pay for the 3 minutes we were in the other one.

SUMMARY

Everything in this hotel was grand and beautiful. The lobby was breathtaking with how tall the ceilings were and all the details on the tiles. There was also a bar right inside the lobby and plenty of seating for anyone who just wanted to lounge around for a while.

Aside from all the amenities and food options, there’s direct access to the more eventful portion in the back such as the aquarium and other food places. I would love to stay here again if we’re ever back in STL!
