Tula Review

How many of you have heard of Tula Skincare by now? It’s no secret that it has become a favorite in the beauty industry and across influencers big and small. Below you can see all the products I’ve tried out from Tula (not sponsored) but I wouldn’t say I plan to repurchase all of them once they’re used up. Has it been good for my skin? Yes. Is it worth all the hype? Kind of. Keep reading to find out which ones I think are worth sticking to for your skincare routine!

The directions for this serum say to use in the morning and at night but I only use it at night. Reason being that I don’t feel it sits very well underneath my makeup. I’m a little over halfway through the bottle but I haven’t noticed any difference or improvement in volume or fine lines. As far as smell, it’s pretty strong and not very pleasant. I would say this bottle has lasted me about 7 months so far but I don’t plan on repurchasing because I think there are other serums out there that will give you better results for this price.

The Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser: $28 at Ulta

I first tried this cleanser when it came in my FabFitFun box a while back. At first I was skeptical but after trying it I became hooked! It’s really gentle on my skin and takes off all my makeup with just one wash. I also like that it doesn’t leave my skin tight afterward (cleansers shouldn’t leave your face with a tight “squeaky clean” feeling, that means they’re stripping your face of all the good oils and natural components). This is my second bottle and I definitely plan to keep using it! 🙂

Brighten Up Smoothing Primer Gel: $34 at Ulta

This is my first time using a gel-like primer since I usually use ones that are more lotion-like. I do like how it goes onto my skin and doesn’t leave it sticky. A little goes a long way with this one. Once it’s on your skin, it’s very easy to rub in and almost immediately becomes less of a gel-like substance. It’s also a little cooling but not too much. There’s a bit of a plant-based smell to it but it’s very faint. You can’t notice it once it’s on your face, it’s mainly noticeable if you stick your nose up to all the product in the container but I’m guessing it’s from the yuzu that’s in the product. I’m on my first jar of it but I could see myself buying it a second time. Overall I would recommend this one as it provides additional benefits to your skin all while working as a primer!

Pro-Glycolic 10% Resurfacing Toner: $34 at Ulta

These two bottles are the same product, just in new (left) and old (right) packaging. I got my first bottle of this in October 2019 and it’s now June 2020 so one bottle will last roughly 8-9 months (you can see in the 3rd picture how much product I have left from my first bottle). I use it every single night after I wash my face and sometimes in the morning. I found that this works really well on my skin when using it along with the Tula Cult Classic Cleanser. I’ve used other toners where they immediately strip my face and leave it super dry which instead of preventing breakouts it causes them but this one is very gentle and I haven’t had a problem with it causing any breakouts or skin side effects. I’ve actually had occasions where I can see a very slight zit coming on, but then I apply this at night and wake up with a clear face. Unless Tula changes the formula for the worse or I start having problems, I plan to keep using and even get a 3rd bottle once the time comes.

24-7 Moisture Hydrating Day & Night Cream: $52 at Ulta

I’m all for a good face lotion but I don’t think I’ll be sticking to this one. It’s definitely super moisturizing so if you have a big problem with dry skin then this would be good for you. I have combination skin since my T-Zone is more oil-prone and my chin area is a bit dry. I used this a few times with some tanning drops and that worked really well because sometimes tanning drops dry my skin out too much. It smells pretty good but once again, you can’t really smell it after applying to your face. I bought this jar back in December and have about 5 uses left out of it so I would say it lasts about 6-7 months! Keep in mind I have used it every night and maybe about half the time in the mornings. I mostly prefer to use a different face lotion in the mornings because I don’t like heavy ones under my makeup. I will say this- it worked a lot better for me in the winter since my skin tends to be drier but now that it’s summer, I almost feel like it runs off if I sweat even a little. Unfortunately, this is a don’t-buy-again for me!

The Instant Facial Dual-Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pads: $22-$59 at Ulta

I expected more from these pads. I honestly wouldn’t recommend them as I had no “exfoliating” feeling after using them or even much of a cleaner face. The serum that’s on one of the sides which you’re supposed to rub on first before the “exfoliating” side was difficult to take off. The pad kept slipping off my fingers which made it difficult to apply. Maybe these work for some people, but not me.

Detox in a Jar Exfoliating Treatment Mask: $48 at Ulta

I have nothing but good things to say about this exfoliator!! Personally, when it comes to face masks, I prefer clay ones over the thin paper sheets that you just place over your face (I don’t think those actually do anything for you and much less really exfoliate). But out of all clay masks, THIS IS THE ONE. It doesn’t burn and comes off easily with a washcloth and if you don’t like using washcloths to take off face masks, it’s gentle enough to where you could just use water and wash it off with your hands! I use it 2-3 times a week for 5-10 minutes and it always leaves my face feeling refreshed and 100% clean. Unlike other masks, this one doesn’t tighten your face while it dries (we’ve all been there, you can’t even laugh without it hurting!) and it removes so effortlessly. I really like that I don’t have to stretch my skin in all directions while removing it and once I put water on the dry product it basically removes like butter. I’m 1000% using this over and over!
